Keyless is a biometric authentication company and the leader in privacy-preserving biometric authentication and identity security solutions. Founded by renowned cryptography experts, Keyless holds multiple patents and has been recognized by Gartner as the first in a new biometric category.

Keyless is used throughout the customer lifecycle—from enrollment and login to payments, step-up actions, and account recovery—to provide the highest level of biometric protection against account takeover fraud and phishing attacks, whilst reducing customer support costs and improving the user experience. Keyless is the only solution that provides genuine identity assurance and does not store biometric data anywhere, providing built-in multi-factor authentication at lightning-fast speed.

Keyless can be used on any recent smartphone with a front-facing camera (720p or higher), simplifying support and facilitating self-service. Rapid SDK integration into Web, Android and iOS platforms creates a consistent experience for all end users.

Privacy-Preserving Technology

Keyless is the only biometric authentication company that does not store biometric data anywhere – neither on the device nor the cloud - thanks to its patented privacy-first cryptographic approach to biometric authentication presented to the Italian Privacy Regulator and validated by several independent legal reviews. As a testament to this, Keyless has been used by a major European university since 2020 without asking users for explicit consent.

Multi-Factor by Design

Keyless authenticates both device (possession) and the user’s face (inherence) at the same time in a single user action. This makes Keyless particularly resilient against deepfakes and injection attacks as attacks are particularly hard to carry out at scale. Keyless also offers PIN (knowledge) as a fallback.

Speed

Users are authenticated in under 300 milliseconds with just one look at a camera. To our knowledge, this is the fastest server-side privacy-preserving biometric authentication on the market. Supporting this, a Tier-1 European bank reported that the Keyless solution is 5x faster than two equivalent competitors based on extensive benchmarks.

Market-Leading FAR and FRR results

Keyless obtained the FIDO Biometrics certification, which is held by only 10 vendors worldwide, with results of an order of magnitude better than the certification standard. Keyless was also the first vendor to hold both FIDO Biometrics and FIDO2 certifications.

More recently Keyless, was ranked in the top 50 1:1 Face matching technologies, ahead of any other commercially available 1:1 facial biometric authentication provide in the market.

Liveness detection

Keyless implements passive offline liveness detection in its SDK, requiring no user interaction such as head turning, smiling, blinking, or light flashing to determine liveness. Our liveness simultaneously provides high security and frictionless user experience. It uses artificial intelligence and identifies a wide range of presentation attacks, including images displayed on a screen or printed on paper, videos, and masks.

The liveness capability is certified by a recognized independent lab against FIDO standards under ISO 30107 levels 1 and 2.

Keyless IDV Bridge

Keyless seamlessly integrates existing ID&V/KYC processes with ongoing authentication, providing a complete and holistic identity lifecycle through its IDV Bridge feature. This enables rapid backend-to-backend enrollment of existing IDV users without any additional action on their part, such as taking another selfie or linking a device. Users onboarded via KYC and IDV can authenticate with Keyless without separate enrollment – new users are automatically enrolled during KYC and IDV.
